Do you know someone who loves to solo travel? Or someone who is about to solo travel for the first time, and you’re not sure what to get them?

Then you’ve come to the right place! This post will give you so many great gift ideas for the solo traveler in your life!

As someone who traveled solo to Paris by myself for the first time not too long ago, I wrote down all of the absolute best things that made my trip incredible! And they’re all in this post.

Your solo traveling friend or family member is sure to LOVE these gifts!

This post is all about the best gifts for the solo traveler in your life.

1. Suitcase

If your favorite solo traveler could use a new suitcase, you have got to check this one out! This is the suitcase that I personally have and love – I have it in the color “lilac” !

Samsonite is a fantastic, quality suitcase brand, and this particular suitcase makes for a great carryon, but they also have checked baggage sizes as well.

This suitcase comes in a variety of colors and is very spacious with multiple internal pockets. Perhaps the best feature of this suitcase, though, is its locking system.

This suitcase comes with a locking system that can only be unlocked with a code. So, if ever this suitcase was lost or left behind, you can rest assured that no one will be able to get into it.

2. Outlet converter

Another great gift for the solo traveler in your life is an outlet converter.

Depending on where they are traveling to, they will most likely need an outlet converter so they can plug in their chargers, hair tools etc., into the outlets in that country.

There are many, affordable outlet converters out there but the best ones have outlet sockets AND USB / USB-C ports as well so that you can plug USB or USB-C cords directly into the outlet converter.

Something like this will be perfect — just make sure that the outlet converter you get is compatible with the country or countries that they are going to.

3. AirPods

Another great gift idea for solo travelers is AirPods. AirPods can be used for a variety of things. For one, they are great to have on planes or on public transportation in general.

When solo traveling, you’re often traveling to and fro quite often, and it helps to have something to watch (like Netflix) or something to listen to (like a podcast) to help the time pass.

AirPodsare a great, convenient tool for listening to shows, movies or podcasts.

They also come in handy when listening to directions. Instead of listening to directions via your phone for everyone else to hear where you’re going, you can listen to directions through your AirPods. This will make navigating much safer.

One thing to note – according to MacWorld.com, AirPods are only compatible with devices that run iOS 10 or later, watchOS 3 and macOS Sierra, or an Apple TV with tvOS 1 or later – so that includes iPhone 5, SE and the iPhone 6 and onwards.

4. Apple AirTags

AirTags are little tracking devices made by Apple that you can put in suitcases or your belongings so that you always know where they are.

Once activated, you can track your items with your phone.

You need to have one of the following Apple devices in order to use AirTags: iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later, or iPod touch (7th generation) with iOS 14.5 or later, or iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2 or later, or iPad mini 4 or later with iPadOS 14.5 or later.

AirTags can come in really handy if, for example, a suitcase is being shipped from one country to another but it doesn’t arrive in the baggage claim carousel when you land at your destination.

Instead of having absolutely no idea where the suitcase is, you can locate your belongings with the “Find My” app on your Apple device, and then make a plan to recover them.

5. Travel journal

Journaling about one’s solo travels is such a great way to reflect on the experience and also a great way to make sure you never forget any of the little details!

Your favorite solo traveler will LOVE a cute travel journal to document their journey.

6. Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag

These Lululemon bags are incredible for travel. Not only are they super lightweight and convenient, but they can be worn across one’s body, helping to ensure that your most important belongings (like one’s money or even your passport) are as close to you and secure as possible.

I used my Lululemon bag every day during my travels and I absolutely loved it. It’s also so nice that it’s handsfree so you don’t have to continuously think about it and make sure it’s always by your side.

Having it on your person makes it a no-brainer for solo traveling.

This bag comes in a variety of colors, too. I personally have the black one!

7. Passport holder

Every solo traveler needs a cute passport holder to keep their passport safe and secure!

8. Portable Door Lock

Is your solo traveler going to stay in an Airbnb or an apartment? Even if they’re staying in a hotel, these devices for adding an extra lock to the door will absolutely help to make them feel more safe and sleep a little better at night.

When you stay in an Airbnb, apartment, or a hotel, there is always someone else who has the keys to where you are staying. But to completely prevent outside access, you can buy one of these door locks to help your solo traveler feel more secure.

They are super small so they’re easy to pack. I bought one for my solo trip to Paris, but ended up not using it because I felt very safe in my hotel. However, I’m really glad that I brought this with me just in case.

9. Reusable water bottle

These foldable travel water bottles are the best! Every solo traveler knows how important it is to drink water every chance you get so that you stay hydrated, and these water bottles make it easy to do that.

They are foldable, so they are easy to pack, but then also very efficient when it comes to holding water. These water bottles are a no-brainer!

10. Comfortable walking shoes

Solo travelers walk a lot, which means they need comfortable walking shoes.

These shoes are Dr. Scholl’s brand. If you’re not familiar with Dr. Scholl’s, it’s literally a shoe brand dedicated to comfort.

I got these shoes prior to a 17 day trip to Italy. I didn’t have any time to break them in before my trip (which was risky for sure!) but they ended up being PERFECT and incredibly comfortable! No blisters or anything like that.

I wore these shoes almost every day on my solo trip in Paris, too.

These shoes are the best!

11. Travel Bottles Set for Toiletries

When you travel overseas, you’re not allowed to bring any liquids (or things in liquid-form like shampoo, lotion, face wash) if they are larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters.

To ensure that your solo traveler stays compliant with TSA protocol on their trip, I recommend getting them these travel bottles for their toiletries!

It comes with a variety of bottles so they can store everything they need, and it comes with a carrying case to keep everything compact!

12. Toiletry bag

This toiletry holder is awesome. Not only does it come in two sizes, but it’s incredibly convenient.

Once you get everything in there and fold it up, it zips closed so nicely, making it very compact and easy to pack in your suitcase.

I personally have the medium size in black, which I love, but if the solo traveler in your life has a lot of makeup items or really any items (e.g. medicine, bobby pins, hair ties, q-tips, cotton balls, etc.), I’d recommend getting them the large one!

There’s no way they’ll be unorganized with this toiletry holder. It’s truly the greatest.
