Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is about a hobbit and eight of his companions who go on an adventure to destroy the One Ring in hopes to save Middle-earth (their fictional universe). 

This movie has a 95% audience score, based on over 250,000+ ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.

 

2. Social Network (2010)

Mark Zuckerberg, a student at Harvard University, develops the idea for a social networking site that later becomes Facebook. While doing so, he is sued by twins who claim they were the first to come up with the idea.

The movie’s tagline is “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”

 

3. Coach Carter (2005)

This movie is based on the true story of Coach Ken Carter. The movie starts when Coach Carter is hired to coach basketball for his old high school in Richmond, California. 

Immediately, he begins to implement rules that the team isn’t too fond of, like demanding that the players wear a suit and tie on game days, maintain strong academic performance, and have respectful behavior. When the team members fail to do what he asks, Coach Carter shuts down the gym and cancels practices and games until the teammates can get their act together.

 

4. The Blind Side (2009)

The Blind Side is based on the true story of Michael Oher, a foster child in Memphis, Tennessee. One night, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy offer Michael a stay at their home.

One night turns into many and Michael soon becomes part of their family. The Tuohy’s quickly realized Michael’s potential as a football player and put him on track to eventually become an NFL prospect.

 

5. Mighty Ducks (1992)

In this movie, lawyer Gordon Bombay is charged for drunk driving. His punishment? Coaching a not-so-good peewee ice hockey team.

As a former hockey player himself, he is reminded of the time when he played hockey and missed the final goal in a shootout to lose a major championship, and simultaneously, the respect of his coach.

Thanks to his past hockey experience, however, the kids become better and begin to respect their new coach. Over time, the team becomes “The Ducks” and they end up playing against Gordon Bombay’s old team and old coach. 

 

6. Harry Potter (2001)

Harry Potter (played by Daniel Radcliffe) thought he was just a normal, ordinary boy. But on his eleventh birthday, he learns that he is in fact a wizard.

From here, Harry is taken to Hogwarts, the school of wizardry where he meets two people who will become his lifelong friends: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Things get interesting when Harry suspects that someone plans to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone.

This movie (and the other Harry Potter movies that follow) are based on a series of fantasy novels written by J.K. Rowling, and is a great example of a young person (Harry) taking on a leadership role.

7. The Dirty Dozen (1967)

According to IMDd, The Dirty Dozen is about a U.S. Army Major who is, “assigned a dozen convicted murderers to train and lead them into a mass assassination mission of German officers” during World War II. 

 

8. The Italian Job (1969)

A previous convict named Charlie leaves prison and now wants to do a “big job”. This job is to steal millions of dollars worth of gold that is being delivered to Turin, Italy from China, by creating a traffic jam. 

 

9. Cool Runnings (1993)

Four Jamaicans band together to form their country’s first-ever bobsled team. They eventually go on to compete in the 1988 Winter Olympics.

 

10. Top Gun (1986)

Skilled pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) and his best friend Goose are given the opportunity to join Top Gun: an elite group of pilots as part of the United States military. But when his best friend Goose dies in an accident, Maverick decides to quit Top Gun, but not for long.

 

11. Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

30 years later, Maverick finds himself as an instructor for Top Gun. One of the candidates for Top Gun happens to be his late best friend’s son, Rooster. 

The Top Gun team has a very important mission to carry out, and this movie follows Maverick’s journey to determine the best of the best for the Top Gun team so that the mission can be successful.

A young teacher (Hilary Swank) begins teaching at a high school with a class of unruly students. Not before long, though, she inspires them to pursue their education beyond high school.

This Netflix docuseries interviews Michael Jordan and various other basketball stars, coaches, and trainers to discuss the rise of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.

Beca is a freshman in college when she finds herself being intrigued by the school’s acapella group. After joining, she and her fellow acapella-mates go on to compete at one of the top music competitions.

Scotty Smalls is a new kid in town who doesn’t know how to play baseball, but he really wants to play with the neighborhood kids who seem to play all the time.

Benny Rodriguez, the neighborhood’s top baseball player, takes Scotty under his wing and teaches him how to play. A series of events unfold, and Scotty accidentally hits his Dad’s baseball over the fence and into the yard of the mean Mr. Mertle. 

Unfortunately, Scotty Dad’s baseball ended up being signed by Babe Ruth. Once the neighborhood kids learn this, they band together and do whatever it takes to get the baseball back.

 

18. She’s The Man (2006)

Viola’s (Amanda Bynes) girls soccer team gets cut, and when her twin brother goes MIA for a couple weeks, she decides to disguise herself as him and try out for the boy’s soccer team – and makes it!

But things get complicated when Viola’s twin brother, Sebastian, comes home.

Zero Dark Thirty is a movie about the true story of the Navy S.E.A.L.s Team 6 and how they found and killed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after many years of hiding.

Zero Dark Thirty is a powerful movie about great leadership and American history.

Based on a true story, American Sniper is the tale of Chris Kyle, NAVY S.E.A.L sniper. The best at his craft, he uses his shooting abilities to protect other American soldiers during his multiple tours in Iraq. He struggles when he returns home, though.

This issue is better known as the Cuban Missile Crisis.
