I first heard about Jim Rohn through reading up on Tony Robbins. When I learned that Jim Rohn was Tony Robbins’ mentor, I immediately became curious.
I wondered what a mentor of a guy like Tony Robbins, with his massive success and ability to touch the lives of so many people, would be like. So I started diving in.
This post is all about 67 Life-Altering Jim Rohn Quotes On Change.
Who is Jim Rohn?
According to his website, Jim Rohn (full name: Emanuel James Rohn) was an American entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and author who “focused on the fundamentals of human behavior that most affect personal and business performance.”
But before he became an excellent speaker and motivator, Jim Rohn was a farm boy in Idaho. His formal education includes highschool, and one year of college.
At the age of 25, he met his mentor Earl Shoaff (also an entrepreneur and motivational speaker), and from there, Jim Rohn became a very wealthy individual in about 6 years’ time.
Shortly thereafter, a friend asked him to share his rags to riches story. His speeches were so successful that he was asked to speak again and again.
Eventually, he was paid for his speeches, and this is where his public speaking journey began.
According to JimRohn.com, “in the beginning, he spoke in front of college and high-school classes and at service clubs, before moving on to seminars in 1963, which launched him into the personal-development business.”
Jim Rohn passed away in 2009, but not before helping millions of people and not before spreading his personal development and business wisdom across the world. Jim Rohn lived an extraordinary life and left behind a great reputation.
Who Was Jim Rohn’s Mentor, Earl Shoaff?
When Jim Rohn was 25 years old, he had started a family and was working at Sears.
He had heard about a man named Earl Shoaff from a friend, and decided to go see him speak at a seminar called “How To Become A Millionaire.” In fact, many called Earl Shoaff “The Millionaire Maker”.
According to Entrepreneur.com, once Jim Rohn listened to this seminar, “he asked Shoaff to be his mentor and followed every bit of advice he could glean from him”.
From there came a long-lasting mentor-mentee relationship.
How Did Tony Robbins Meet Jim Rohn?
In typical mentor/mentee fashion, Jim Rohn eventually became Tony Robbins’ mentor.
Tony Robbins’ interest in Jim Rohn began when he was a part-time janitor at the age of 17 years old. According to CNBC, Tony Robbins was barely making $40 a week, and “looking to change his life” when “he splurged on a $35 three-hour seminar with personal development coach Jim Rohn.”
When Tony Robbins was just 17, he met Jim Rohn (who was 50 years old at the time). Eventually, Jim Rohn became Tony Robbins’ mentor.
The two of them have gone on to do incredible things in the personal development space, and their names and impact have left a lasting impression on many. While Jim Rohn is no longer with us, Tony Robbins is and continues to hold seminars that inspire people to reach their full potential.
