If you’re looking for a Whitney Simmons Alive review, you’re in the right spot! This post is all about Whitney Simmons’ weight lifting wellness app: Alive. Is it one of the best fitness apps out there? You’re about to find out!
As Whitney Simmons always says, it’s a beautiful day to be alive… so let’s dive right in.
If you’re anything like me, most of your daily workouts are spent at the gym jogging on a treadmill or stepping on a stair climber.
Or maybe you like to take a spin class or do yoga, but when it comes to weightlifting, that’s just not been something you’ve felt totally comfortable trying out.
For the last few years I’ve heard about the benefits of weightlifting, but was too hesitant to start. I simply just didn’t know how, and the mere idea of it felt intimidating.
I really thought that weightlifting was saved for men and some really badass women – but not for me. That was until I found the Alive app by Whitney Simmons.
Not only did I not really know how to lift weights or what kind of weights to lift, but developing a workout plan on top of that seemed like a really daunting task.
So, when I learned that Whitney Simmons (who is just an amazing/kind/inspirational human if you haven’t heard of her yet) has an app that can help you through all of this, I thought – why not try it and see how this can transform my workout experience?
I’ve been using the Whitney Simmons Alive app for over a year now to help me maintain a healthy lifestyle.
This post is all about a Whitney Simmons Alive review.
First, a few frequently asked questions about the app:
How much is the Whitney Simmons Alive App?
The app is $14.99 for a monthly subscription (or $119.99 yearly), it felt affordable and I had a good feeling after seeing all of the 5-star reviews that this could potentially work out.
How can I get the app?
You can download the Alive app straight from the apple app store or via Google Play.
Now, let’s dive into the pros and cons.
Pro: The Whitney Simmons Alive App gets you out of your comfort zone
If you’ve never really gone to the section of the gym where the free weights are or where the weight lifting machinery is, you’ll find that with Alive, it’s a little hard to avoid – which can be a great thing.
This app will absolutely get you out of your regular routine and challenge you to do exercises you’ve never done before so that you can finally start hitting your fitness goals.
Con: The Alive app gets you out of your comfort zone ; )
If you’re thinking “but you just said this was a good thing?!” — yes, I know, but to some extent getting out of your comfort zone can be real tough!
You may have moments where you feel uncomfortable, awkward, or maybe even a little silly as you try new things and navigate through new areas of the gym – but as someone who has walked through all of the first-time jitters over the last few months, I can promise you that you’ll get through it AND end up being so much stronger for it (physically and mentally!).
Pro: Everything’s planned out for you
If you’re new to weightlifting and wouldn’t even know where to start when it comes to planning out your workout, you don’t need to worry about that with Alive! There is a full schedule of workouts planned and laid out for you.
I usually look at my entire workout before heading to the gym – I love being able to see what’s on the agenda for the day. Rest days are also included.
All workouts also include optional warm-up and cool-down exercises and before you begin your workout you can see just how long it’s estimated to take you (e.g. 45 minutes) as well as what equipment you’ll need for that day’s exercises.
You are also able to very easily keep track of your progress. The app clearly shows you which workouts you have completed and which ones are upcoming.
Con: You can add before and after pictures, but you can’t specify the date – the date defaults to the day you uploaded the pictures to the app
So there is a “pro” weaved in here – the fact that there’s a place within the app to put your before and after pics is great. But the con of this has to do with the dates assigned to your pictures.
For example, let’s say you took a “before” pic back in August and it’s now October. When you upload the picture to the Alive app, the app will assume that today is the day you took the picture – so it’ll have an October timestamp, even though you took the picture back in August.
It would be cool if you could choose the date that the picture was actually taken before uploading it to the app. But again, this is suchhh a minor thing! Just something that I noticed.
Pro: Whitney Simmons took the time to demonstrate every single exercise on the app
Each exercise is accompanied by a video demonstration by Whitney so that you can see exactly how to do the exercise and what equipment you should use for it. This is great if exercises are totally new to you and you’ve never done them before.
By simply watching the quick video demonstration you’ll feel much more equipped and confident to try out the exercise yourself.
The workout videos that she has filmed are super helpful and really make these workout plans even easier to follow and ensure you have proper form.
Pro: There are different kinds of workouts you can try, not just strength-building in a gym environment
I tend to try the strength training workout programs, but the Alive app has many other different programs, too. For instance, the “Alive Inside” program is comprised of “high-intensity circuit-based workouts” that are designed to be done at home!
Including “Alive Inside”, the Alive app has other at-home workout programs you can do of all varying levels of experience and intensity.
If you don’t want to do a full-fledged program, you can select individual workouts for upper body, legs, abs, HIIT, warm ups and cool downs; there’s really something for every one – no matter what your personal fitness journey looks like.
And one more thing – Whitney Simmons is constantly developing new workout programs and adding different, great workouts to the app!
Pro: The Whitney Simmons Alive Community is amazing and you will feel so welcomed once you join it
Whitney Simmons really cares about her community. Almost every time I have shared something about the Alive app on Instagram, I’ve gotten a DM from her team encouraging me to keep going.
And sometimes if you tag Whitney herself, she will send you a DM personally. To me, this speaks volumes and really shows that Whitney Simmons cares about her community.
Pro: There’s a focus on mental health
Within the app, you will also find a space where you can write journal entries about whatever you’d like – whether you want to journal about a specific workout or something that you are going through outside of the fitness world, it’s up to you.
The app also has challenges every now and then. The most recent one, for example, provides daily inspiration, wellness reminders and journal prompts, along with a workout program.
Whitney herself is a social media fitness person that has always been open – not just about her physical health, but her mental health, too. And that really shines through in this app.
Pro: User Experience
The app is beautifully designed and incredibly easy to use and follow. This is truly one of the best apps that I have ever used – and I’m not just talking about from a fitness perspective!
Alive is incredibly intuitive and beautiful. If you have personal goals that you want to hit in the gym, this app will make it fun to do so.
Pro: There’s a 7 day free trial
If it’s your first time using the app (or any fitness app) there’s good news. Alive has a 7-day trial that is free for anyone that wants to see if they like the app.
This is a great way to not pay and see what you think! If you want to use the app for at-home workouts you can do that, or you can use it at the gym for gym workouts.
Simply choose the type of workout that you want to do, and enjoy the free workouts while you have them!
Overall Review – Is the Whitney Simmons Alive App worth it?
Yes, absolutely! Perhaps my biggest takeaway is the confidence that this app has allowed me to tap into.
There’s just something about completing these exercises that makes you feel so proud of yourself… I’ve gotten out of my comfort zone, learned to move and challenge my body in different ways, and learned to love something new.
I only wish I started sooner!
